Some bandits have attacked some communities in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna, killing two farmers while scores of others were kidnapped.
The affected communities are Shiwaka, Unguwan Bagudu and Sabonlayi, all in the Western part of Birnin-Gwari.
One the survivors of the attack, Isa Yunusa, identified the two farmers killed as Alhaji Yahaya Shuwaka and Sarki Fadaman Gaude.
He told newsmen that members of the affected communities were still combing bushes for more corpses.
According to him, the latest attack on the communities was as a result of failure by the affected communities to meet the deadline for the payment of levy imposed by the bandits.
“The attack took place today (Monday) around 11:30am while most locals were already on their farms.
“We are still appealing to President Tinubu that people in our communities are ever ready to assist in dealing with this menace.
“The problem is that, based on experience, even if the levy is paid, the bandits will never stop carrying out their attacks against innocent locals.”
Recall that bandits had imposed N10m levy on the farmers in the areas which deadline expired on Tuesday, May 30.
As of the time of filing this report, the state police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mohammad Jalige, had yet to respond to our correspondent’s enquiry on the incident.
