The White House advisor was instructed to report to Federal Correctional Institution Miami on or before 2:00 p.m. EDT (18:00 GMT) on March 19.
Peter Navarro, a White House advisor under former U.S. President Donald Trump, reported to a federal prison on Tuesday to begin serving a four-month sentence.
Mr Navarro was found guilty of defying a congressional subpoena from the House January 6 committee.
The White House advisor attempted to delay the sentence pending an appeal, although an appeals court blocked his efforts earlier this month.
Mr Navarro was instructed to report to Federal Correctional Institution Miami on or before 2:00 p.m. EDT (18:00 GMT) on March 19.
“Every person who has taken me on this road to that prison is a friggin’ Democrat and a Trump hater,” Mr Navarro said outside the prison on Tuesday.
Mr Navarro has previously said he had an honest belief that Mr Trump invoked executive privilege, which he contends justified his decision not to comply with the congressional subpoena.
Mr Navarro has made history as the first former White House official imprisoned for a contempt of Congress conviction.
