The collaboration among stakeholders from the federal and state levels is to checkmate the activities of quacks and illegal miners.
Kwara’s Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development, Abduquawiy Olododo, has called for synergy between his ministry and federal government agencies which have direct link with its operations.
Mr Olododo made the call during a meeting with officials of the federal agencies on Friday in Ilorin, saying this was necessary in order to achieve operational efficiency.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency (NGSA) and Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development (FMSMD).
There were also representatives from the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) and the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC).
“There is the need to have harmonious working relationship with one another for greater operational efficiency,” the commissioner said.
He, however, commended the agencies for their contributions to the state in the drive for development by the present administration and towards harnessing mining potentials in Kwara.
Mr Olododo noted that with effective collaboration among stakeholders, quacks and illegal miners would be checkmated.
In her remarks, Funke Sokoya, the Permanent Secretary in the state’s Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, also called for continued partnership with the ministry by the agencies.
“This is why this meeting will be on a continuous basis,” she said.
Responding, a representative of the federal government agencies, Adekeye Adekunle, thanked the ministry for inviting them to the meeting.
“We will work assiduously, with a view to assisting and supporting the ministry in achieving the goals for which it was established,” he said.
