Estonia’s Foreign Ministry has expelled an employee of the Russian embassy in Tallinn from an EU and NATO country.
On Tuesday, Estonia’s Foreign Ministry announced that it expelled an employee of the Russian embassy in Tallinn from an EU and NATO country.
The expulsion was justified because the ministry deemed the actions to be directed against Estonia’s independence and sovereignty.
“The coordinated hybrid attacks by the Russian secret services on the security of the Republic of Estonia must be stopped,’’ a statement added.
Foreign minister Margus Tsahkna said that the Russian embassy had allegedly interfered in Estonia’s internal affairs in an unacceptable manner regarding a court case.
Mr Tsahkna alleged that the embassy had obtained documents from criminal proceedings and contributed to their publication on Russian social media.
