Miscreants went on rampage during the hunger protest, damaging public properties in the state.
The Plateau government says that the curfew earlier imposed on Jos-Bukuru metropolis has not been relaxed.
Gyang Bere, the Director of Press and Public Affairs (DOPPA) to Gov. Caleb Mutfwang, stated this in a statement on Wednesday in Jos.
Mr Bere was reacting to a fake news making the rounds in social media that the curfew had been relaxed.
According to the fake news, the time for free movement had been revised to between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.
But the DOPPA maintained that free movement within the affected areas remained between 7:00 a.m and 7:00 p.m.
”Government wishes to clarify that there is no further relaxation of the curfew currently in force.
”Contrary to a false statement being circulated by certain individuals, the curfew remains as previously announced.
”Residents are hereby reminded that movement is permitted only between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., as directed by the governor.
” The public is advised to disregard any misleading information and to adhere strictly to the stipulated curfew hours,” he said.
The government on Sunday, Aug. 4, imposed a curfew following the looting of public and private assets by some hoodlums in Jos North Local Government Area (LGA), of the state.
The miscreants hijacked the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest to perpetrate the criminal acts, hence the curfew was imposed to forestall further destruction of lives and property.
The 24-hour curfew was later reviewed based on improved security in the affected areas, reflecting the current timing for free movement.
