‘Enough Is Enough’, Peter Okoye Sparks As Scammers Open Accounts In His Name

On Wednesday, Nigerian Singer Peter Okoye, better known Mr P, claimed that Polaris Bank and Access Bank allowed some unknown individuals to open accounts in his name.

“Enough is Enough!!!” the music star stated in a post on his X handle. “It’s either it’s an inside job or otherwise! I have a name to protect here and save some of these innocent victims! So get ready for me and my legal team!”

“How can @polarisbankltd allow someone to open an account in the name of ‘PETER OKOYE PSQUARE’ and @myaccessbank you also allowed someone open an account name ‘PETER OKOYE PSQUARE’ without valid means of identification, no biometrics, no BVN, no verified address or even utility bill to correspond with the address of the account owner.”

He lamented that the individuals scammed unsuspecting victims in his name, just as he called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to take appropriate action.

“Now they are using my name to scam innocent people! I am Suing this (sic) Banks for damages and calling them out! One after the other! @officialefcc take note! Enough is enough! Calling out more banks!”

The singer had also decried the situation last year, alleging that some Nigerian banks aided fraudsters to defraud people using his name.

Mr P got his big break in the music industry In the 2000s with his identical brother Rudeboy. The duo is popularly known as P-Square.

They produced and released songs and albums together under Square Records, now called Square Root Entertainment.

The duo later got a breakthrough record deal with Universal Music South Africa.

They parted ways in 2017 over a disagreement they said was a family matter. and reunited in 2021.

P-Square later released singles in 2022, which are”Jaiye (Ihe Geme)” and “Find Somebody”.
