Chairman of the vehicle recovery committee stated that whistleblowers had been instrumental in its success.
The Monday Ekpebholo-led government in Edo State has recovered 30 government-owned vehicles from some officials of the immediate past administration of Godwin Obaseki.
The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, in a statement on Thursday, said the chairman of the State Vehicle Recovery Committee, Kelly Okungbowa, announced the recovery.
He said, “We have recovered two land cruiser jeeps and two Toyota Hilux vehicles from a former high-ranking official of the immediate past government. One of the vehicles contained campaign posters and umbrellas. Another Hilux vehicle was also recovered, bringing the total number of vehicles retrieved since our operation began to 30. Whistleblowers have been instrumental in our success, and we are committed to rewarding anyone who provides helpful tips.’’
Mr Okungbowa vowed to recover more vehicles before the two-week deadline given to the committee to complete the assignment, and expressed the committee’s readiness to travel across the country to retrieve them.
