The Yaba College of Technology has suspended all physical academic activities ahead of the EndBadGovernance protest scheduled for August 1 and August 10.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by the acting registrar of Yabatech, E.J.A. Akinwale. He disclosed that the suspension would last for a week as a result of the planned protest.
According to Mr Akinwale, the polytechnic management had held various meetings on the matter and decided that academic activities be held virtually during the one- week suspension.
The statement read, “In view of the need to maintain peace and order on campus, the management, after a series of meetings involving the Academic Board, Principal Officers, and Security Committee, resolved as follows: All lectures for both full-time and part-time students will be held virtually using our various online platforms for the next one week, starting from August 1, 2024. Lecturers are expected to attend to students’ needs online and provide support during this period. Students are implored to maintain peace and safety while on campus.”
Earlier on Wednesday, conveners of the protest released a 10-point agenda for the government to address otherwise the protest would proceed as planned.
