Anchoring the women’s team, Amusan, alongside teammates Justina Eyakpobeyan, Olajide Olayinka, and Fore Abinusawa, blazed to victory with a swift time of 43.06 seconds, leading to loud jubilation amongst the Nigerian supporters.
The Nigerian women’s triumph was complemented by their male counterparts’ stellar performance in the 4x100m relay. Sunday Israel Okon, Consider Ekanem, Alaba Akintola, and Usheoritse Itsekiri combined forces to secure another gold for Nigeria, crossing the finish line in a commanding time of 38.41 seconds.
With both relay teams delivering gold-medal performances, Nigeria’s track and field contingent showcased their prowess and determination, solidifying their status as a force to be reckoned with in African athletics.
