NLC has accused Labour Party Chairman Julius Abure of contempt for the leadership of the union.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has staged a protest at the national headquarters of the Labour Party, demanding the immediate removal of the party’s national chairman, Julius Abure.
The NLC accused Abure of showing contempt for the leadership of the labour union and attempting to hold a national convention in violation of the party’s constitution.
Gathered outside the Party’s headquarters in Abuja, members of the NLC voiced their grievances, asserting that the Labour Party rightfully belongs to the Nigeria Labour Congress and that they are determined to reclaim it.
They also denounced Abure as a political coup plotter who assumed the chairmanship of the party illegally, and are adamant about his removal from office.
The absence of Abure at the Party’s Secretariat during the protest raised further questions, as he has yet to issue a statement addressing the picketing of the Labour Party Secretariat or responding to the accusations levelled against him by the NLC.
