“Standing On Tinubu’s Mandate Hurts My Legs,” Says Seyi Law At Valentine Event

Seyi Law said he had never received a dime from Mr Tinubu.

Comedian Seyi Law seems to have to withdrawn his support for President Bola Tinubu amid the economic hardship in the country.

He claimed he could no longer endure the embarrassment and incessant attacks on social media following his support for Mr Tinubu whose economic policies threw Nigerians into hardship.

Seyi Law, who spoke during a Valentine’s Day event at Rosticks Bar in Lagos on Wednesday, admitted that he was now the one requesting that citizens should “sit down” and take a break from “standing” for Mr Tinubu’s mandate.

“Na me shout pass o, on your mandate we shall stand, Na me dey tell person abeg, make una sit down,” the comedian told a small group of audience at the bar in Sky Mall, Sangotedo, Lagos on February 14. 

“Mandate dey make leg pain me o,” Seyi Law added in a statement that suggests that the economic crisis worsened by Mr Tinubu was taking a toll on him.

As the bar audience cheered the comedian with one man thrusting wads of cash in his hands, Seyi Law said he had never received a dime from Mr Tinubu despite backing him staunchly and enduring constant humiliation on his behalf.

“If to say Tinubu do like this (gives me cash like this), you think say I no go dey praise am. Idiot!” Seyi Law said in his stand up comedy performance to the delight of bar goers who erupted into laughter “You wey I no even know, na you dey give me something like this.”

Still, it is unclear whether Seyi Law was indeed pro or anti-Tinubu since he came on Twitter, now X, three days after the comedy show, to declare his unwavering support for Mr Tinubu.

“I would rather stay with Moses through the wilderness to Canaan than eat meats and drink wine in slavery in Egypt at the expense of my children’s future,” Seyi Law wrote on X on February 17.

“To those still cursing in my mentions, if another election was held tomorrow, I would still vote Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
