“Passengers in two loaded buses were kidnapped and everywhere is just quiet like it is nothing. Is this the new normal?”
The Tactical team of the Nigeria Police, Kogi State Command, has rescued one Godwin Oniovosa, the driver of one of the two buses involved in the kidnapping incident at Inele Eteke, in Olalamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The incident which occurred on Saturday February 3 at about 3pm when kidnappers hijacked two buses belonging to God Is Good Motors and ABC Transport and whisked about 14 passengers away to an unknown destination.
Sources hinted that one of buses of God is Good Motors was with 12 passengers while ABC was with 2.
It was learnt that, the two buses were heading to Abuja from Umuahia, Abia State.
The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer SP William Ovye Aya confirmed that the one of the drivers , Oniovosa has been rescued in a statement on Monday night.
“The tactical team set up by the Kogi State police command, the DPO, local vigilantes and hunters rescued the driver of God is Good Motor Mr Godwin Oniovosa” he stated.
Meanwhile, abductors of the 14 passengers of Abuja-bound buses have demanded for N15M random from the family of one of their kidnapped victims.
One Chude Nnamdi, a social media influencer has raised an alarm claiming that his wife was in one of the victims of the hijacked buses and she is still held in captivity.
In one of his X handle post, Nnamdi said “The kidnappers phoned this morning via my wife’s phone and were demanding N15 million ransom.”
