Deobra Redden, the man caught on video attacking a judge at his sentencing hearing last week, has been charged with attempted murder, according to multiple reports, another charge added to a set of felony counts he faces following the attack.
Redden was reportedly charged with attempted murder in the courtroom attack in addition to extortion by threat, coercion with force and battery on a protected person.
The arrest report stated that Redden told officers after the attack that he attempted to kill the judge and that he was having a bad day, NBC News reported.
The 30-year-old attacked Clark County District Court Judge Mary Kay Holthus last week during a sentencing for a separate felony battery charge—he was sentenced Monday to up to four years in prison on that charge.
Redden, who told Holthus he was beyond his violent past, leapt over the judge’s bench and attacked her after she indicated she would still sentence him in the battery case, provoking a clerk and multiple officers to wrestle him off the judge.
Redden was sent back to jail on a $54,000 bail on charges in connection to the attack while Holthus shortly returned to work after sustaining minor injuries.
